This year, the Armenia Eurovision 2017 national selection program, called “Depi Evratesil”, was won by Artsvik Harutyunyan, a 32-year old pop singer most famous for her participation in the second season of the Russian version “The Voice”. To get to know the Armenian singer better, we’ll tell you a bit about her background. Artsvik Harutyunyan, known by most people as simply Artsvik, was born on 21 October 1984 in Kapan, a picturesque mountain town located in the southeastern part of Armenia. Although she has always had a deep passion for music, she didn’t become widely famous until 2013. Artsvik is best known for her powerful voice and the charming atmosphere oozed by her songs.
Artsvik is definitely a great choice for Armenia, as she has proven countless times that she is a unique kind of singer. She rose to fame in 2013, when she appeared on the second season of the television programme Golos, the Russian version of The Voice. As part of the team of the popular Russian singer Pelageya, Artsvik managed to steal the show with her performances of Bobby Hebb’s “Sunny” and Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”.
Although she was eliminated in the battle rounds of Golos, the singer didn’t give up on her dreams and continued on the road towards success. Her one-of-a-kind voice got her a lot of local fans, which stimulated her to enlist for “Depi Evratesil”, the national selection for Armenia Eurovision. Acing this competition represents the peak of her music career.
At the first Eurovision 2017 semi-final, scheduled to take place on 9 May in Kyiv, Artsvik Harutyunyan will perform “Fly With Me”. The Artsvik Eurovision performance is expected to make sensation due to its powerful message and the amazing vocals of the singer. The distinctive trait of the singer’s voice is that it manages to emanate strength and softness at the same time. Armenia has a pretty good history at the Eurovision, placing seventh in last year’s final.
