The Austria Eurovision national selection, organised internally by the broadcaster ORF, was won by Nathan Trent, a very talented young pop singer from Innsbruck. The music experts on the team were very impressed with his performance of the single “Running on Air” and became convinced that Nathan is the right choice for Kyiv and that he has a great potential for winning the Eurosong contest.
Born on 4 April 1992, in the city of Innsbruck, Nathanaele Koll, known under the stage name of Nathan Trent, is a popular Austrian singer. He comes from a very artistic family, his father being part of the orchestra of the National Theatre of Innsbruck. Nathan was raised bilingually in German and Italian. When he was only three years old, he started studying piano and the violin. He also studied singing, acting and dancing.
Nathan Trent has been involved in music for as long as he can remember. Nathan first performed in front of a live audience when he was just a young child. He acted in several plays and musicals, which helped him discover his passion for singing. He was a truly prodigious kid and when he was only 11 he began writing his own music.
Nowadays, Trent writes and produces his own songs, which are gaining more and more fans by the day. On 18 June 2016, the artist released his very first single, entitled “Like It Is”. His next song, “Running on Air”, released on 28 February this year, is the one he will represent Austria at Eurovision with. Initially, Nathan was also shortlisted for the Germany Eurovision 2017 preselection. However, he withdrew from the German competition to be able to represent Austria.
The Nathan Trent Eurovision participation is an event that all Austrians are anxiously looking forward to. The singer will perform live on the Kyiv stage during the second semi-final, on 11 May. Trent’s great music talent and unique voice give people plenty of reasons to hope for another win, after Conchita Wurst’s outstanding success at Eurovision 2014. In his single “Running on Air”, Nathan Trent sings about his own life and change in general.
