Out of the 22 bands and singers that faced off in Supernova 2017, the Latvia Eurovision 2017 national selection, the electronic band Triana Park emerged as the undisputed victor. The public loved their performance and decided they are fit for representing the country at the Eurosong competition. On the stage in Kyiv, they will perform the song “Line”, which bears their distinctive mark.
Established in 2008 in Riga, Triana Park is unlike any other Latvian band. Due to their unique signature, they managed to get remarked in the entire world. They are best known for their incredibly entertaining and often surprising live shows, their eclectic style and the eccentric outfits of their lead singer Agnese Rakovska who will be Latvia Eurovision representative this year.
Ever since Triana Park was formed in Riga, they have walked in a straight line towards success and achievements. Their bold and original combination of very different music genres like electronic, jazz, funk rock, Eurodance and even hip-hop got them noticed all over the globe. Due to their unique approach to music, they’ve been on the line-ups of various popular events, like the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen, Netherlands. They were even invited to participate in the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.
Triana Park released their debut album, entitled “EnterTainment” in 2010. In 2014, they launched an EP called “Triana Park”, which was very appreciated by the large public. Their debut single, “Bye Bye”, released in 2008, had an immediate success and stimulated them to take their work further. Up to the present day, they have released 16 singles, including the one they will sing at Eurovision 2017, “Line”.
The live Triana Park Eurovision performance will take place during the first Kyiv semi-final on 9 May, at the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv, Ukraine capital. After participating in the national selections five other times, the audacious and electrifying band has finally managed to win the honour of representing their country. Their hit, “Line”, is one of the most popular they’ve ever released. The song excels at originality, as it is very different from all of the other acts in the competition.
