At the Montenegro Eurovision national selection, organized internally by the broadcaster RTCG, it was decided that the pop and R&B singer Slavko Kalezić will wear the country’s flag to the Kyiv competition. A former X Factor competitor, Slavko is a big star in Montenegro. In addition to singing, he has also acted in a lot of popular theatre shows and movies.
Born on 4 October 1985, in the capital city of Podgorica, Slavko Kalezić is one of the most important Montenegrin singers, songwriters and actors of today. He graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Cetinje and went on to pursue a theatrical career. He acted in many productions at the Montenegrin National Theatre. After discovering his passion for music, Slavko participated in the first edition of the popular TV show X Factor Adria. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and French.
Although he initially focused on his acting career, Slavko Kalezić eventually discovered that he has a great talent for music. In 2011, he released his very first single, “Muza”. Later on, in 2013, he enlisted for the first series of X Factor Adria, the Serbian pan-regional version of the popular television programme. After being coached by Željko Joksimović, Serbia & Montenegro’s representative at Eurovision 2004, he demonstrated his amazing skills by performing Beyonce’s “End of Time”, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and Jamiroquai’s “Cosmic Girl”.
Although he didn’t manage to get qualified for the X Factor finale, his participation in the competition got him noticed in the Montenegrin music industry. One year after being eliminated from the show, he released his first album, “San o vječnosti”, which included some of his most successful hits, like “Freedom” or “Feel The Music”.
Scheduled to take place on 9 May, in the first Kyiv semi-final, the Slavko Kalezić Eurovision performance is expected to be quite a success. His single, “Space” was produced in collaboration with the famous Swedish musician Stefan Örn, who worked on four Azerbaijani Eurovision songs. The song features a dramatic, yet minimalist tone and reflects some catchy funk-pop influences.
