The Poland Eurovision national selection for the event in Ukraine was won by the popular singer Kasia Moś, who managed to make a great impression on both the jury and the public. The 30-year-old artist has been active on the music scene since 2002 and is widely popular in all of Poland. On the stage in Kyiv, she will represent the country with her single “Flashlight”.
Born on 3 March in the city of Ruda Śląska, Katarzyna "Kasia" Moś is a famous Polish singer and songwriter. You could say musical talent runs in Kasia’s family, as her father, Marek Moś, is the conductor of the renowned orchestra Aukso. The singer studied cello and piano at the Frederic Chopin Music School in Bytom. She also graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Vocal Academy of Music in Katowice, where she studied jazz and contemporary music. When she was 15, she started studying vocals to pursue a singing career.
Kasia Moś’ first steps towards a music career included her collaboration with ensembles like Stetsons or Big Band Lotharsi. Recorded in 2002, her first demo was the work of the composer Robert Janson, a founding member of Varius Manx, one of the best known Polish bands. Later on, she tried to compete in Eurovision 2006 with her single “I Wanna Know”, but didn’t manage to get past the national selection.
The artist’s first international performances occurred in 2011, when she met the choreographer Robin Antin, the founder of Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Revue, in Las Vegas. Antin saw Kasia’s great potential and invited her to perform with the troop. During her time in the US, Kasia worked alongside important singers like Mýa or Kelly Osbourne. One year later, after returning to Poland, she participated in the Polish version of the popular talent show Must Be The Music, where she made it to the final. In October 2015, Kasia Moś released her first studio album, entitled “Inspiration”.
