After a very controversial voting process, the Spain Eurovision 2017 national final was won by Manel Navarro, a 20-year-old singer and composer from Sabadell, a town located very close to Barcelona. So far, his song, “Do It For Your Lover” has had great success in the Spanish charts. It is still to be seen whether or not it will also succeed in impressing the jury in Kyiv this May.
Manel Navarro is one of the youngest and most successful Spanish musicians. He is passionate about the guitar, and his music can be described as a combination of the styles of artists like Bob Dylan, Ed Sheeran, Passenger or James Bay, from which he borrows plenty of interesting elements. Due to this unique mixture of influences, his songs represent a very original and innovative type of pop music. In addition to singing, Navarro also has a passion for composing songs.
In spite of being so young, Manel Navarro Eurovision arrival has already won the appreciation of both fans and critics and can boast about some pretty amazing achievements. The artist started out his career by covering popular songs and posting them on social media. He had a great boost of popularity after releasing his outstanding acoustic cover of Drake’s world-class hit “Hold On, We’re Going Home”, for which he won the Catalunya Teen Star contest.
In the wake of his victory, Navarro started getting noticed and eventually signed up with TeenStarRecords. Towards the end of 2014, he released his very first single, entitled “Brand New Day”. In 2015, the artist made a label change and moved to Sony Music Spain. His next song, “Candle” became viral on the Spanish Spotify and made him even more famous.
Seeing as Spain is one of the “Big Five” contributors to the European Broadcasting Union, Manel Navarro will automatically qualify for this year’s Eurovision final. Released on 13 January 2017, his song “Do It For Your Lover” has become one of the most popular Spanish hits of the moment. This single achieved the stunning performance of reaching the 41st position in the Spanish charts. Written and composed by the artist in collaboration with Antonio Rayo, the Manel Navarro Eurovision 2017 song may stand a good chance of winning the competition!
