The 2017 edition of the Melodifestivalen, the Sweden Eurovision national selection, was won by the popular singer Robin Bengtsson, famous for his participation in the fifth season of the large-audience show Swedish Idol. The artist will represent his country with the single "I Can't Go On". He will perform the song during the first semi-final in Kyiv, on 9 May.

Born on 27 April 1990 in the village of Svenljunga, Robin Bengtsson is a highly successful Swedish pop singer. Passionate about music and singing since he was a kid, the artist made his breakthrough in the music industry when he decided to participate on Swedish Idol. Robin is also a big car enthusiast and hopes that one day he will own a company that deals in special cars.

Robin first became acknowledged by the large public in 2008, when he appeared on the fifth season of Swedish Idol. His one-of-a-kind interpretations of notorious hits like Duffy’s “Mercy”, Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn”, ABBA’s “Does Your Mother Know” or Aerosmith’s “Dude Looks Like a Lady” were very appreciated by the jury and the public. Bengtsson proved that he could easily perform songs from all kinds of genres, which earned him a third place in the Swedish Idol final.

After his great success in the televised contest, Robin released his debut single, "Another Lover's Gone", which had a great reception all over the country. The song peaked at the 8th place in Swedish charts. In 2014, the artist released his first EP, “Under My Skin”. In 2016, he participated at the Melodifestivalen for the first time, with “Constellation Prize”, placing fifth in the competition.

The Robin Bengtsson Eurovision live performance is one of the most anticipated events in the contest, as his song, “I Can't Go On”, is already a giant hit in Sweden, peaking at third place in the national charts. Sweden is one of the most prosperous countries at Eurovision, having won the competition six times. Robin’s magnificent voice gives Swedish people plenty of reasons to hope for a seventh win. His act is also very appreciated for its flawless choreography. Robin Bengtsson will sing live on 9 May, during the first semi-final.
